Pinecone Hill News
You’d like to make a quilt, but don’t know how to begin? This class is just what you need! It will cover the entire process of quilting: fabric selection, rotary cutting, ¼” piecing, borders, sandwiching, quilting, and binding. Over 4 sessions (plus homework) you will be completing a quilt (you choose the size). This class is intended for the beginning quilter. Prerequisite: have a sewing machine and know how to use it. We'll be using my Sunshine and Shadows pattern. Four sessions at Lyons Quilting: 11/13/21, 12/11/21, 1/15/22, 2/26/22; 10am - 3pm. $150
You’ve pieced a striking top and the quilting is lovely, but the last step is holding you back. This class will take you through the binding choices that confront you. Topics will include double fold binding, two-toned binding, art quilt facing, self binding; bias vs. straight grain; and hand sewing vs. machine sewing. We’ll discuss which type is best in a variety of situations. This class is appropriate for any level of quilter. At Lyons Quilting: 10/30/21; 10am - 3pm. $50
Has machine quilting made hand quilting obsolete? Not at all! It remains a viable option to finish your quilts, whether done over your entire quilt or to enhance certain areas. This class will cover how to hand quilt using a lap hoop (short stitch and big stitch), how to choose a quilting design to compliment your quilt top, and how to mark your quilt. At Lyons Quilting: 11/14/21; 1:30 - 4:30pm. $30
The Lost Art of Hand Quilting
Once in a Lullabye
Back by popular demand! My “Once in a Lullabye” quilt pattern uses 12 traditional blocks, giving them a modern flair with current color choices and modern techniques, and is designed to be done completely on a home sewing machine. The class will guide you from the first cut, through the quilting process, to a completed 51” x 68” throw quilt. As you proceed you’ll learn new quilting skills and interact with other quilters … all while never leaving your own sewing space!
The class is designed for beginner and intermediate quilters and anyone wanting to improve their quilting skills.
You will work on the following skills:
Precise piecing of 12 traditional blocks
Machine quilting with a free motion and walking foot; learn a new technique in every block
Quilt-as-you-go joining techniques
This is a virtual class: you will receive instruction by video so that you can work each step at home. An optional in-person show&tell and Q&A session will be held for 7 Monday mornings beginning 10/25/21, 10am - 11am. $75
Moose in the Pines
What says Colorado more than pine trees and wildlife? This 45” x 63” throw quilt brings the Colorado outdoors inside. The class will cover these topics to help you complete the quilt top: fusible applique, cutting with a template, working with directional fabrics and precise ¼” piecing. No previous quilting experience required. At Lyons Quilting: 12/4/21 10am - 3 pm. $50

Upcoming Classes at Lyons Quilting in Lyons, CO
I have a pattern featured in Quilts & More Magazine
Scrap Lab Design Challenge: A quilt shop is asked to make a fat quarter stack from various manufacturers and 3 designers are given the challenge of designing something using those fabrics. My local quilt shop, Lyons Quilting in Lyons, CO, put together the fabric and I, as one of the designers, designed a wall hanging that I am calling "Amble Along". So much fun! The magazine will be on news stands May 21, 2021.
